Rising magnificently some 7000 feet above sea level in the Andes mountains is the Incan city of Machu Picchu. As one of the seven wonders of the world, Machu Picchu is the representative of the Incan empire in the modern world. It is also the most visited tourist destination in Peru.
Do you want to know something fun about the walls? No mortar was used in its construction!! This fact will blow your mind if you see the walls up close. The stones used in its construction were so precisely cut that the builders did not need any mortar. Now those guys were quite something.
The “lost city” is located high in the cloud mountain and its airspace is a no-fly zone. Looking out over the rest of the forest from any vantage position is a marvel unique to the Machu Picchu (a name which interestingly is not the original name of the city).
